 PM Modi announces Rs 1,000 crore relief to hurricane-hit Gujarat



PM Modi has announced immediate financial assistance of Rs 1,000 crore to hurricane-hit Gujarat.  In addition, financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh has been announced to the families who lost their lives in the hurricane.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today conducted an aerial inspection of the affected areas in Gujarat after the devastating Tau-te hurricane.  After which the situation was assessed by holding a review meeting with the CM of Gujarat Vijay Rupani and senior secretaries of the state at Ahmedabad.  After reviewing the situation, PM Modi has announced immediate financial assistance of Rs 1,000 crore to hurricane-hit Gujarat.  In addition, financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh has been announced to the families who lost their lives in the hurricane.


PM Modi today visited Gujarat to review the situation created by Cyclone Tau-Te.  The Prime Minister conducted an aerial survey of cyclone affected areas in Una (Gir-Somnath), Jafrabad (Amreli), Mahuva (Bhavnagar) in Diu, Gujarat.


 He said that a team of Central Government would visit Gujarat for immediate relief activities and a survey of the damage done to the state.  On the basis of which more assistance will be provided.


 The Prime Minister assured the people of the state that the Central Government would work closely with the State Government in this difficult time, providing all possible assistance for the restoration and construction of infrastructure in the affected areas.


In Ahmedabad, PM Modi held a review meeting with Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani as well as senior secretaries of the state to assess the situation.  A relief was also presented to Gujarat against the loss of crores caused by the hurricane.


 During his visit, he also reviewed the situation regarding the Kovid epidemic.


 He said that Rs.  2 lakh and Rs.  50,000.


 The Prime Minister said the Center was working closely with the affected state governments in the aftermath of the cyclone.  Immediate financial assistance will also be provided to these states after which the concerned state governments will send their demand to the Central Government for review.

 The Prime Minister said the Union government was working in coordination with the governments of the affected states in the aftermath of the cyclone.  Immediate financial assistance will be provided to these states, for which the concerned state governments will have to submit their assessment to the Central Government, on the basis of which the financial assistance will be decided.


 "We must continue to focus on conducting more scientific studies on disaster management," Modi said.  He appealed for greater focus on using modern communication techniques to enhance inter-state coordination and ensure rapid migration from the affected areas.  He also appealed for repairs to damaged homes and properties in the affected areas.
