Professor Bhramar Mukherjee, a biostatistics and epidemiologist at the University of Michigan, told Reuters through a model designed for India that the situation here could be more serious. Professor Bhramar Mukherjee says that the incidence of coronavirus infection in India has not decreased yet, with cases of coronavirus infection in India doubling every 13 days, according to government figures. In such a situation, removing the lockdown related restrictions may increase the difficulties.

Earlier, Professor Mukherjee's team had said for the first time in April that the number of infected people in India would cross one lakh by mid-May. Now Mukherjee's team estimates that 630,000 to 21 lakh people in India could be infected with the virus by early July.
